Pulling up onto the lawn, presumably to get the car into the shade. So is this trendy or just isolated asshattery?
Keen observers of detail will see an Acura doing some monkey see monkey do action in the background.

My mom used to (and I'm sure still does) circle parking lots for what seemed like fucking HOURS looking for a shaded parking spot, or one that would become shaded as the sun moved.
Note that I said parking spot. Never this willy nilly most-offroading-a-4x4-will-ever-do shit.

I would avoid it because many trees ooze out sap. I care more about the paint than whether it is hot in the car.

In Trinidad, parking in the shade is pretty normal.

Hard to avoid that but you are more likely to get that under a tree.

While i've parked out on the far end of a lot just to grab some shade from a sickly Palo Verde waay too often during my residence in Phoenix. I've never violated the boundaries of the lot itself.
(the lots were often filled with clusters of cars parked by the trees.)
the photos above are indeed dooshebaggery.
and stupidity:
Parking in a shaded spot only yields 1 hours of effective shade on a vehicle sized object because...
wait for it..
THE SUN MOVES.
the smart critters will place their cars where the shade WILL BE during the afternoon hours when the day is hottest.

Not just tree sap.

It's pretty common at a certain horse race track in Kentucky. (Picture appears to be from the 90's but the lot still looks like that — spaces are angled, about 8' long, and you're supposed to park half in the grass and half on the pavement... That said, it looks like they're parked at the wrong angle).

I suppose any shade is meaningful in AZ, but those scrubby things look like placebo shade.

That's because Trinidad is full of clouds. The weather in Trinidad is always the same- 60 and overcast

It is expected in central/south Texas. "Drive to the shade."
